Top 21 Bodyweight Exercises

2. The Push-Up

Push-ups have long been one of the best upper body exercises (if not the best) because every single part of your upper body will feel the heat – your back, your chest, your arms and, believe it or not, even your abs.

When performing push-ups, make sure your shoulders are lined up with your wrists. Also, do not flare your elbows out wide, tuck them in towards your side (the rhymes are real). Lower your chest and hips as close to the floor as possible, using nothing but the strength of your arms.

Don’t be alarmed if you can’t perform push-ups properly because they’re too difficult for you, especially if you haven’t worked out in a while. Push-ups are tough, very tough! While people at gyms spend hundreds of hours sweating on benches and other fancy contraptions, push-ups might be even more effective when it comes to boosting your strength. What’s more, they might even do it faster.
