2. BANANA-ORANGE SMOOTHIE

Bananas are pretty much the perfect fruit. They are rich in potassium which is important for your electrolyte levels, especially after working out. They are also very filling and can replace an entire meal (well, maybe not the dinner, but breakfast and midday snack for sure). Oranges are, as we all know, a terrific source of vitamin C. Combined these two delicious fruits make a great post-workout shake.

You will need one ripe banana, half a cup of low-fat yogurt, 1/8 cup of frozen orange juice or the juice from two freshly squeezed oranges, half a cup of skimmed milk and some crushed ice cubes or ice shavings. Put it all in the blender until all the ingredients are mixed well. For extra protein, you can add a scoop of whey. This smoothie is rich in protein, low in fat and contains a good amount of fiber.
