How To Stay Fit During The Holidays

Christmas is a tough time for us Vikings. Everything we have worked for can be ruined just by overindulging during the holidays. So, is there a way to enjoy Christmas with your family and friends without sacrificing your body?

Eat Often And Eat Selectively

The first thing to remember is to eat often. This is especially true around Christmastime, simply because there’s much more food around. If you aren’t semi-full at all times, your cravings will be that much harder to fend off with all the delicious food surrounding you.

Another thing to consider is WHAT you eat. Don’t binge on everything, but rather choose what you’re going to eat and what you are NOT going to eat. Choose something that you can only enjoy during the holiday season because you won’t get a chance later.

Avoid Alcohol And Soft Drinks

Alcohol consumption is also a big thing to watch out for, along with sugar-filled soft drinks. These pack more calories per unit of volume than anything else you’ll take in during Christmas. So lay off the whiskey and coke and you’re much more likely to keep those abs.

Keep Exercising

Just because it’s Christmas doesn’t mean you can’t work out. If you’re lucky to be graced with some snow where you live, a casual snowball fight is a big calorie burner, especially if you’re good at it. Apart from being physically demanding, your body will burn a lot of calories just to keep you warm.

Don’t Forget To Drink Water

People often mistake their thirst for appetite. So be sure to drink a lot of water and keep yourself hydrated in the cold weather. Not only will you eat less, your skin will also be super thankful. And last, but not least…

Stay Disciplined

Maybe the most important one. Yes, it’s Christmas and everyone will expect you to eat until you bust open. After all, everyone else will be doing it. But sometimes, when everything else fails, you just have to learn to say no to that extra plate of chicken.

You don’t need it and you will have to spend a lot of extra time in the gym just to burn it off, setting your progress back, at least, a couple weeks. So just trust us, it isn’t worth it.
